Constraint-Handling using an Evolutionary Multiobjective Optimization Technique

چکیده
In this paper, we introduce the concept of non-dominance (commonly used in multiobjective optimization) as a way to incorporate constraints into the tness function of a genetic algorithm. Each individual is assigned a rank based on its degree of dominance over the rest of the population. Feasible individuals are always ranked higher than infeasible ones, and the degree of constraint violation determines the rank among infeasible individuals. The proposed technique does not require ne tuning of factors like the traditional penalty function and uses a self-adaptation mechanism that avoids the traditional empirical adjustment of the main genetic operators (i.e., crossover and mutation).

Constrained Multi-Objective Optimization Algorithm with Ensemble of Constraint Handling Methods
Different constraint handling techniques have been used with multiobjective evolutionary algorithms (MOEA) to solve constrained multiobjective optimization problems. It is impossible for a single constraint handling technique to outperform all other constraint handling techniques always on every problem irrespective of the exhaustiveness of parameter tuning. To overcome this selection problem, ...
متن کاملUse of Multiobjective Optimization Concepts to Handle Constraints in Single-Objective Optimization
In this paper, we propose a new constraint-handling technique for evolutionary algorithms which is based on multiobjective optimization concepts. The approach uses Pareto dominance as its selection criterion, and it incorporates a secondary population. The new technique is compared with respect to an approach representative of the state-of-the-art in the area using a well-known benchmark for ev...
متن کاملCurrent and Future Research Trends in Evolutionary Multiobjective Optimization
In this chapter we present a brief analysis of the current research performed on evolutionary multiobjective optimization. After analyzing first and second generation multiobjective evolutionary algorithms, we address two important issues: the role of elitism in evolutionary multiobjective optimization and the way in which concepts from multiobjective optimization can be applied to constraint-h...
متن کاملIS-PAES: A Constraint-Handling Technique Based on Multiobjective Optimization Concepts
This paper introduces a new constraint-handling method called InvertedShrinkable PAES (IS-PAES), which focuses the search effort of an evolutionary algorithm on specific areas of the feasible region by shrinking the constrained space of single-objective optimization problems. IS-PAES uses an adaptive grid as the original PAES (Pareto Archived Evolution Strategy). However, the adaptive grid of I...
متن کاملA Bi-objective Constrained Optimization Methodology Using a Hybrid Multi-Objective and Penalty Function Approach
Single objective evolutionary constrained optimization has been widely searched and researched by plethora of researchers in last two decades. On the other hand, multi-objective constraint handling using evolutionary algorithms has not been actively proposed. However, real-world multi-objective optimization problems consist of one or many non-linear and non-convex constraints. In the present wo...
